July 19, 2023 – Descending on the newly renamed Trackhouse Motorplex in Mooresville, North Carolina, Chad Dokken Racing (CDR) driver Steven Miller added another championship title to his resume. Claiming top honors in the KA100 Junior class, Miller was crowned the 2023 IAME USA Grand National Champion and added an additional second place podium result in X30 Junior.
“Great weekend in Mooresville and happy to be able to find my way at the top step of the podium,” explained Miller. “A huge thanks to SunPrint for the support as we continue to work hard to win.”
Qualifying fifth in KA100 Junior and on the pole position in X30 Junior, Miller progressed through the heat races with a focus on the main event Sunday. With prefinals setting the grid for the finals, Miller topped the results sheet in the KA100 Junior ranks while narrowly missing the win in X30 Junior to cross the line second.
After winning many races on a 12-race-old Kart Republic chassis, the race proven chassis was starting to fall off pace. Despite the worn down chassis, Miller still claimed the KA100 Junior checkered flag after an over-under, three-wide move in the latter stages of the race.
“The worn kart chassis felt like it was lacking in speed, and I thought I was going to have to work my way up to the top,” added Miller. “With some tweaks, we were able to fine-tune everything through the weekend and come away with the win.”
With the KA100 Junior win to his credit, Miller started from the outside of the front row in X30 Junior as he looked to double up on the national titles. Crossing the line in the second position, the CDR driver was denied the opportunity but was happy to close the weekend with solid results. While earning the fastest lap of the X30 race, blocking on the last few laps kept Miller in second place by just over one tenth of a second.
Up next for Steven Miller is the 2023 SKUSA Summer Nationals Rounds 5-6 at New Castle Motorsports Park in New Castle, Indiana over the July 28-30 weekend, where Steven Miller is leading the Championship points in KA100 Junior.
